Cirque du Soleil- Toruk The First Flight

This weekend only! Inspired by James Cameron’s AVATAR, TORUK – The First Flight, a live experience by Cirque du Soleil, envisions a world beyond imagination thousands of years before the events depicted in the film.

Free Kids Building Workshop at Home Depot

Date: January 9, 2016- 10 am until 12 pm

Kids will learn how to build a Spinning Box from the movie Kung Fu Panda 3, step-by-step with easy to follow directions. 

Maurice Sendak: 50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons

Location: TD Gallery at the Toronto Reference Library

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Where the Wild Things Are with this free event that your whole family will love! Toronto Public Library presents an exhibition of original artworks by the books author and illustrator, Maurice Sendak. Take a ride in Max’s boat, make a plasticine Wild Thing, hear stories and songs inspired by Sendak, and enjoy other free programs and activities for the whole family.

Public Skating at Evergreen Brick Works

Take your family for a glide on the outdoor ice that weaves through this beautiful garden! This rink is housed between the walls of the old factories, and is placed under the exposed beam ceiling, making it an outdoor rink with a cool twist! Stay until it gets dark to see the twinkling lights. This is perfect for the entire family, and public skating is free until the end of the month. 

Christmas Bird Count for Kids

Solar Observing at Ontario Science Centre

Date: January 9th, 2016. 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Location: Ontario Science Centre – Teluscape, outside main entrance.

Cost of Admission: Free!

Safely observe the sun with specially filtered telescopes. Your kiddies will learn about our nearest star and try their eye at spotting exotic surface features, including sunspots, spicules and prominences. This program is offered by members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.

Mayor’s New Year’s Skating Party

Date: January 9th, 2016. 2 pm – 3:30 pm

Location: Albert Campbell Square

Cost of Admission: Free!

Ring in the New Year with Mayor John Tory and Toronto City Councillors for a free family skate that includes a family-friendly DJ and hot beverages!
