Let the fun begin. It’s chilly outside, the leaves have changed from green to beautiful shades of honey, tangerine and vibrant yellows as a sure indication – fall is here. It sure is beautiful. It’s also a time to have some of the most fun you’ll have all year, especially if you’re a kid!
My fashionista baby mommas, lets get creative!! Who says your 2 year old toddler little girl can’t be a Rockstar for Halloween? It might sound like a stretch, but i’m always game to try anything, especially crazy and outlandish ideas. I had the idea to be a bubble gum machine for halloween when I was 9 years old. I asked my mom to go buy me small multi-colored balloons that we blew up and stuck all over my body from the waist up – front and back, with the exception of my arms. On each cheek we wrote 25¢ with black eyeliner, and voila! A bubble gum machine costume was made, for literally like, a couple bucks. I’ve always been a creative bug, but I can be lazy too, and get sucked into those adorable costumes from H&M kids or Old Navy. If you’re stumped for ideas, there’s always trusty google to give you ideas or inspiration. If your child is between the ages of 3 – 13, you have absolutely no say in the costume anyways, so there’s really no point in even putting thought into it. Just let them lead the way- within reason of course.
To be honest I don’t have a costume yet for myself this year, and I haven’t put any thought into what I will dress my 21 month old son as. So, as I write this, i’m getting slight heart palps and anxiety to show up without an elaborate Halloween ensemble for Halloween at my daughters school. The teacher has been telling us for about 3 weeks to have our costumes ready! What’s a mom to do? Well, this year I will probably not be so over-the-top and dress my daughter up as a unicorn.
How about a cupcake suit or a strawberry onesie with green stemmed hat for your rosy-cheeked little girl? Whatever the case, it’s really nothing to stress about and I should really take my own advice here. Deep breath. Ok, I think i’ve just calmed myself down. If you are the type of mom (or dad) to put a tremendous amount of time, effort and planning into your child’s costume, all the power to you. Seriously. I’m quite certain if your child is in a little monkey suit that is easy and convenient, they will surely be just as scrumptious as the other little ones in their Danny Zucco leather jackets. And of course most importantly, we want our kids to have fun right? So enjoy yourself while your kids play and pose for the camera! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
