Make way for tech-savvy, entrepreneurial and highly connected millennial moms.

If you were born between 1981-2000 that means you!

In 2014, 77% of babies in Canada were born to millennials and these new mamas sure do love their smartphones. In fact the millennial mom spends 47% more time browsing, surfing, posting, liking, gaming, snapping, texting and talking on her mobile device than the Gen X mom.

For all the bad press parents get for being absorbed by their apps, using your mobile device can help you to better manage your time, travel, family memories and sleep. This might make
you happier, calmer, and more engaged! And what kid doesn’t want a mom like that?

BABY MONITOR 3G

As more than half a million parents can tell you, this app will save you having to pack your expensive video monitor when travelling. There are many baby monitoring apps available, but Baby Monitor 3G gets top marks because it works on any network–WiFi, 3G, Edge and LTE. The universal app requires two devices, one stationed in baby’s room, the other with the parent/caregiver. The initial set-up just takes a minute and once the devices are paired you can hear, see, and talk to your baby. Can you say “priceless?”

BABY PACK & GO

There’s taking a vacation (think palm trees, cold drinks, no kids) and then there’s taking a trip (basically life as usual in a different locale with less help and more pressure to relax). When it comes to packing ALL of your baby’s essentials for a trip, millennial moms will appreciate Baby Pack & Go. With a master list of hundreds of baby and toddler related items you can quickly create and edit custom lists for multiple children. You can also share lists between other family members, so hopefully daddy dearest can put the diapers in his carry-on for a change.

NOTABLI

You may aspire to keep a detailed baby book of all your child’s major milestones, but then reality will set in and next thing you know that beautiful album will be six months out of date. Thank goodness Notabli makes it easy to capture and save memories in the moment so you won’t ever miss out on preserving a memory. This app works wonderfully as a scrapbooking tool for photos, videos, cute kid quotes or audio, but kicks into high gear when you invite your inner circle to follow your private feed. Best of all, your in-laws’ access to your feed will keep them from incessantly asking for new baby photos.

IMPRESSED

While your fancy camera might be collecting dust these days, your trusty smartphone is always on hand to capture every precious moment. But if you’re like most moms, aside from a few Instagram posts, those photos never see the light of day…until now! Download Impressed and start printing photos directly from your phone. The simple interface makes uploading your snaps, well, a snap! While baby snoozes you can create gorgeous high quality hardcover albums that will be shipped directly to your door. Come the holiday season you’ll have beautiful gifts for the grandparents.

RAINY MOOD

Bob Marley sings, “some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.” But, umbrellas and poetic lyrics aside, did you know that the soothing sounds of a downpour might actually help new parents get a better night’s sleep?  According to the latest issue of Chatelaine, pink noise – sounds with a steadier, lower frequency than white noise – can lead to a better night’s sleep. What started as a popular ambient noise website is now available 24/7 as an Android and iOs app, so make the most of your limited hours of sleep between feedings.
