You can always count on Young People’s Theatre for offering-up great quality entertainment choices during those times of year when you’re looking for things to entertain your kids with and this March break is no different.
This week YPT debuted their latest rendition of Frances Hodgson Burnett classic, “The Secret Garden”, under direction of Allen MacInnis.
YPT productions always amazes me with their great set designs and special effects and this production was no different.
The Secret Garden tells the story of a recently orphaned little girl from India who goes to live with her uncle in his Yorkshire, England, manor. The manor has many secrets including a forbidden overgrown garden that holds many secrets within. But the greatest secret is unlocked when the residents and staff of the manor help to rejuvenate the Garden back to its former splendor.
The message of personal development within this story is more suited for your older children while your children under 6 might not understand the true meaning behind it, but YPT knows its audience and is great at grabbing and captivating your children’s attention — they have mastered the art of packing an entire production into the perfect length so as not to lose its target audience along the way.
“The Secret Garden” runs at the iconic theatre until March 17th with extra performances over the March Break.
